The heart and soul of BIGA Pizza + Beer is to provide our customers with simple, seasonal, and ingredient-driven food and beverage
that is made with passion and purpose.

A Biga (pronounced "Bee-Gah") is a bread starter commonly used in Italian baking. All of BIGA's dough is made in-house using a 2-3 day fermentation process, which adds complexity and depth, and makes it super flavorful!
Each and every pizza that is ordered starts with this fresh dough, and is topped with unique and hand-crafted toppings.
One of the things that BIGA is known for is a pizza with a crisp, bubbly, and slightly charred crust. This is because we cook our pies Neopolitan-style in a 900°F wood-fired oven. The process takes about 90 seconds, ensuring a fresh pie at your table within minutes!
Many of our customers enjoy our "casual seating, upscale eating" approach. You should be able to enjoy your craft cocktails, seasonal eats and old-school hip hop, and spend some time with your 3-year-old too! We encourage community, family time, goofiness, and fun. We don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we do take food and service very seriously.

So come and enjoy a meal with us. Bring your favorite people and an empty belly, and prepare to relax and enjoy!

Sean Weinberg - Chef/owner

Having grown up in his parents' restaurant, the Rose Tattoo Café in Philadelphia, Owner Sean knew at an early age that Culinary Arts was his calling. He received his formal schooling at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. Upon graduation, Sean completed a two-year apprenticeship throughout various restaurants in Northern Italy, including Il Cibreo of Florence, and Al Covo of Venice. Sean then returned to the Rose Tattoo Café as Executive Chef for five years.

With all of these experiences under his belt, Sean and his wife, Kelly decided to open Restaurant Alba, in Malvern, PA, inspired by his time spent in Italy, and focusing on seasonal, wood-fired Italian fine dining. Twelve years after Alba's opening, Sean decided to hone in on one of the staples of Italian cuisine, pizza! BIGA is Alba's mischievous younger sibling, but with the same promise of great hospitality, seasonal, wood-fired dishes, and time spent with friends and family.

Steve Fulmer - makes some damn good food

Steve is the mastermind behind the flavors and the flames here at BIGA. His self-taught, experience-driven kitchen journey began at age 14 washing dishes...but he wouldn't be scrubbing pots for long! Steve's view of food was truly shaped after securing a kitchen job at Alison at Blue Bell, where he worked his way up the ranks, ultimately spending five years as the Sous Chef. After his time at Alison, Steve spent his time working in the Philly/Main Line food scene, and eventually accepted a Sous Chef position working under Sean at Restaurant Alba. He also honed his craft pizza knowledge by staging at some of New York's best, including Roberta in Brooklyn, and Keith McNally's Pulino.

When it came time for BIGA to come to fruition, there was no better man to helm the ship. Steve has put a lot of time, knowledge, and passion into developing our BIGA pizza dough, and this same attention to detail goes into every dish he creates. When he is not perfecting his craft on the court, you can find him scouring the latest cookbook. If you see him roaming the restaurant in his signature white crocs, make sure to say hi! He is always willing to share his love of food with the world.

Brandon WRight - General Manager

With a passion and drive for all things hospitality, Brandon is at the helm of your dining experience. After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, he spent four years working in his home city of Boston. He started off his career in the kitchen as a line cook at Lineage, in Cambridge, MA, but soon realized that he longed to connect with the guests he was serving face-to-face. It was while working under Jody Adams at Rialto Restaurant in Cambridge, MA, that he honed his hospitality skills, and developed a love for upscale Italian cuisine and the art of crafting a great cocktail.

But Brandon doesn't take himself too seriously (as shown by his crazy printed button-down tees and tube socks).  With expertise in good vibes and positive attitudes, Brandon's goal is to ensure that the dining room will always be filled with a warm, welcoming feeling, and endless pints of beer.
